José Ramón Hernández Suárez

José Ramón Hernández was born in Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba in 1988. He is a director, actor, cultural gestor, teacher and investigator in scenic arts and funder of Osikán – Experimental Scenic Platform. He has collaborated with national and international projects and creators. In 2012, he received the Milanés Grant, and grants from Zona Ibsen residency and Documenta Sur residency with Stefan Kaeggi  in 2016. He was specially menitoned in occasion of the Aire Frío Prize (AHS) and Villanueva Prize (UNEAC / AICT) for the plays Aleja a tus hijos del alcohol – un karaoke escénico and BaqueStriBois in 2014 and 2016.
Right now, he carries on a scenic studio on afro-cuban dances and experimental theater, and is coordinating Zona 0 – Workshop of Scenic Experimentation since 2010. His work has been showed in Cuba, Dominican Republic, New York and Germany.
