Neda Navaee is a photographer and a pianist. Born in Iran, she grew up in Omaha (Nebraska), Paris, Grenoble, and later Isfahan (Iran) before moving to Cologne as a teenager. There she entered the Academy of Music at age 16, studying piano under Prof. Pavel Gililov. She spent a year at the Royal Academy of Music in London before moving to New York in 1997, where she lived for 10 years. She completed her master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music with a full scholarship from the Horst Will Foundation, and in 2005 became a professor in the Department of Music and Performing Arts at New York University (NYU).
Since 2007 she lives in Berlin, and has focused on portrait photography of musicians.
