Erkan Pehlivan is a freelance journalist and writes mainly for the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper about human rights, Islamism, the impact of Turkish politics on Germany and the EU and the activities of the Turkish secret service MIT at home and abroad. After the attempted coup in 2016, Pehlivan was one of the journalists who uncovered the cases of spying by imams in German Ditib mosques. In 2018, together with Correctiv, ZDF and various international media, he made the MIT's kidnapping programme and its secret prisons public. His articles repeatedly form the basis for parliamentary questions.
