Cleo Niemeyer studied stage and costume design at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. After receiving her diploma in 2011, she graduated in 2013 as a master student of Barbara Ehnes. During her studies, Cleo Niemeyer worked as a stage and costume designer for various drama, opera and dance productions, including at the Festspielhaus Hellerau, Kleines Haus des Staatsschauspiel Dresden and the Schauspiel Chemnitz. In 2013, she collaborated on the set design for the Schauspielhaus Wien as part of the Wiener Festwochen.
From 2013 to 2015 she was engaged at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin as assistant stage designer. During this time she also realized her own works there. Since 2015 Cleo Niemeyer has been working as a freelance stage and costume designer. Her work has taken her to the Staatstheater Cottbus, Schauspiel Leipzig, Theater Bielefeld, Konzerttheater Bern, Maxim Gorki Theater, E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater Bamberg and Ballhaus Naunynstraße Berlin. She has worked with directors such as Mizgin Bilmen, Matthias Huber, Branko Janack and Sasha Marianna Salzmann.
