Theory and practice of law are closely linked in Christoph Möllers' work – even if he opposes the urge to produce academic knowledge with direct applications. In his legal philosophy book Die Möglichkeit der Normen, he asks what we mean when we refer to norms, and how they shape our social reality. Christoph Möllers studied law, philosophy and comparative literature in Tübingen, Madrid and Munich. After he received a Master of Laws from the University of Chicago Law School, he began his doctorate studies in Munich in 1999 and has been a permanent fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin since April 2012.
