Branko Janack, born 1990 in Berlin. He studied directing for the theatre at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and the Danish National School Of Performing Arts in Copenhagen from 2014-2018. From 2009-2011 he worked as an intern and assistant director at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, from 2011-2013 as assistant to Barbara Kantel, the artistic director at the Junges Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, and as assistant director at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and in the 2013/14 season as assistant director at the Maxim Gorki Theatre.
He directed his first productions at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (including Alice im Wunderland by Roland Schimmelpfennig) and at the bat-Studiotheater (Respekt vor deinen Tanten (Baby) by Laura Naumann, The Bacchae by Euripides, WOLKEN.HEIM. Und dann nach Hause by Elfriede Jelinek, among others). He then directed productions at the Deutsches Theater Berlin (including OREMESTRA by Marcus Peter Tesch), the Internationale Schillertage festival at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Kunstfest Weimar at the DNT Weimar, for the 2018 Theatertreffen Stückemarkt, for Mitos21, at the Theater Chemnitz and Schauspiel Hannover, as well as productions in Denmark.
In the 2019/20 season he’s directing RICH,WHITE, STRAIGHT, the new series in the Gorki Kantine.
