Bahadir Hamdemir studied media design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and now works as a video artist around Germany and the world. During his studies he acquired some initial experience with the stage as a production assistant for the tv show »Wetten, dass…?« on ZDF. His master’s thesis »MXZEHN – phaenomenologische bewegtbildsammlung« made it clear that he would dedicate himself to the »25 masterpieces per second« and led to the founding of the video art group »MXZEHN – 25 masterpieces per second« which existed until 2015. In 2005 his live video performance was honoured with the VJ-Award (1st prize from the jury) at the 15th International Video Festival in Bochum. His first work for the theatre – Anna und Ella at the Theater Basel in 2003 – was followed by numerous drama and opera productions. His video work for the 2016 production of Der Triumph des Todes at the Kunstfest Weimar, directed by Alexander Fahima, was awarded with the studio prize from the Götz-Friedrich-Stiftung. In addition to his work as an independent video designer under the label HMDMR [hamdemir], he was the artistic and technical director of the video department at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar for 11 years.
