Ana Sladojević is a Belgrade-based independent curator and art theorist who combines curatorial and artistic methodologies to take a critical approach to art, culture, and heritage institutions. She maintained a long-term collaboration with the Museum of African Art – the Veda and Dr. Zdravko Pečar Collection (MAU) and the Museum of Yugoslavia in Belgrade, translating some of her conclusions into practice. Her work focused on models of representation, nonalignment as a global political option of the 1960s and 1970s, and the connections between Yugoslavia and African countries. Her recent projects include Racism without Racist: Institutions of Culture and Heritage – a reading and discussion group proposed and co-moderated by Jelena Savić for the Centre for Cultural Decontamination (CZKD) in 2023; An Anticolonial Museum – an exhibition and a book outlining a methodology for museum re-conceptualization at MAU in 2022; and On Perseverance – an exhibition contemplating strengths and limitations of activism at CZKD in 2021.
