Aidan Boyle is new media artist living in Berlin, Germany since 2010.
He was born in Ireland and did a post-grad in France in the 80s. From there, he ended up in Brazil for many years, via a somewhat prolonged adventure in the Amazon jungle in Guyana and Venezuela.
He has been exploring digital technology for many years and built his first touchless piano in 2005. At that time, motion-tracking interfaces became a focus, and he has iterated through a number of prototypes since then. In 2008, Trinity College Dublin was where he formalized his education in the art field, through the renowned Masters in Music & Media Technologies. He specialised in electroacoustic music composition and interactive dance performance.
With a hybrid background in new media arts, composition and science, interdisciplinarity is his playing field. His work bridge participatory/collaborative cultures and digital environments. Interactivity is the medium he uses to probe the blurring boundaries between performer/audience and live sound/visuals. He blends emergent media and technology with electronic music, visual art and the performing arts.
Recently, he has participated in a collective project in the education sector bringing new media art to secondary schools.
