Ahmed I. was stabbed in the back in Lohfelden near Kassel on January 6, 2016. At the beginning of 2020, the Attorney General charged neo-Nazi Stephan E. with both the attack on Ahmed I. and the murder of Kassel District President Walter Lübcke. Ahmed I. is appearing as a joint plaintiff in the Lübcke trial.
