Caricature, Stand Up and More
For decades the language of the protests at Taksim Square were shaped by determinism and heroism. But when the masses took the full control of the square in June 2013, a completely different voice emerged: through the chants of the ultras groups, jokes borrowed from the long humour-magazine tradition, queer slang, pop-songs, and meme-culture, the events took a truly carnivalesque character. With a selection of caricatures and magazines from the period, with performances of young stand-up artists and musicians KAHVEHANE will pay tribute to the joyful, lively and gay side of the whole »Gezi adventure«.
