German companies such as Deutsche Bank AG and the construction company Philipp Holzmann AG were involved in the construction of the Baghdad Railway in the Ottoman Empire and benefited from forced labour. These labourers were later deported on this railway. In his lecture Dietrich Eichholtz will give a talk about the continuities between the genocide and the use of Armenian forced labourers for the construction of the Baghdad Railway by German companies till the holocaust and forced labour in times of National Socialism.
