Jörg Gollasch

After completing his studies in applied arts in Hildesheim (majors in music and art), Jörg Gollasch went to Berlin and the Baracke venue at the Deutsches Theater in 1997. There (and later at the Schaubühne) he collaborated as a composer and musical director with Thomas Ostermeier on various productions: at the Baracke on Messer in Hennen, Shoppen und Ficken and Disco Pigs (German-language versions of the Scottish, English and Irish plays Knives in Hens, Shopping and Fucking, and Disco Pigs); as well as Gier and Personenkreis 3.1 (versions of the English and Swedish plays Crave and Personkrets 3:1) at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. Since 2002 he's worked as an independent composer, arranger and producer at various theatres in Germany and abroad (including the Burgtheater Wien, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Berliner Ensemble, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Kammerspiele München, Residenztheater München, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Schauspiel Köln, Kretakör Theater Budapest and Maxim Gorki Theatre), collaborating with directors such as Claus Peymann, Karin Henkel, Dieter Giesing, Matthias Hartman, Tom Kühnel, Árpád Schilling, Thomas Langhoff, Haken Savas Mican, Oliver Reese and Robert Schuster. From 2013 to 2017 he was also engaged as a composer for productions directed by Dieter Wedel at the festivals in Worms and Bad Hersfelder. He's had a particularly close collaboration with director and artistic director Karin Beier since 2004. The results of this collaboration include the productions Das Werk – Im Bus – Ein Sturz (Elfriede Jelinek), Die Schmutzigen, die Hässlichen und die Gemeinen (based on Ettore Scola's film Brutti, sporchi e cattivi), both at the Schauspiel Köln, and Die Rasenden (in cooperation with Ensemble Resonanz) at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus. Over the past few years Gollasch has also begun to work has a composer for radio plays, working on productions for stations such as SWR, SWF, RBB and Deutschlandradio. He's also a workshop instructor and lecturer at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. In addition to all this, he also works as a film composer, with directors including Hank Levine, Hanno Olderdissen and Charly Hübner (Wildes Herz, 2017).
