"Sie haben gedacht, wir waren das"

BUCHVORSTELLUNG MIT FUNDA ÖZFIRAT, ÖZGE PINAR SARP, EBRU TAŞDEMIR

There are numerous publications on the subject NSU complex, but in the fewest cases, the victims and the families of the victims themselves get a chance to speak. An important part of the NSU complex is being silenced not only by the majority society but also by direct leaders of the state apparatus, politics and the media. In the book Die dachten, wir waren das (published in 2016) personalities from journalism, science and politics as well as actors in antiracist work - all with a migrant background - are presented. They talk about their experiences and about the traces of institutional racism in migrant communities. How do you deal with racist violence and the fact that victims and relatives of victims have been accused of crime for years?

Funda Özfırat, co-editor of the book Die dachten, wir waren das, the political scientist and human rights activist Özge Pınar Sarp as well as the journalist Ebru Taşdemir of Neue Deutsche Medienmacher will read extracts of the book.
