Olivia Wenzel

Olivia Wenzel was born in Weimar in 1985 and lives in Berlin. She studied cultural studies and aesthetic communication at the University of Hildesheim from 2004 to 2010. Wenzel writes plays and prose. She is also a singer and songwriter for the band humming. For JIGGY PORSCHE TAUCHT AB Olivia Wenzel won the Munich award for new German-language drama in 2011 at the "Langen Nacht der neuen Dramatik". Her text passages were presented in staged readings for the first Karlsruher Dramatikerfestival in October 2011 at the Badisches Staatstheater. She was commissioned by the Neuköllner Oper to write the libretto for Bei Drücken Senden (composer: Michael Emanuel Bauer, premiere Nov 10th, 2011, Neuköllner Oper). In 2009 the Münchner Kammerspiele presented her play Goodbye, Gudrun as a workshop production (director: Bülent Kullukcu). To date, Wenzel has presented her texts at the internationalen literaturfestival berlin, in Hamburg at the Dockville Festival and at the Literaturhaus. In 2009 she initiated and organized a staged reading series in Hamburg called stücke schiessen, featuring texts by young authors. JIGGY PORSCHE TAUCHT AB celebrated its world premiere in a production directed by Philip Decker at the Münchner Kammerspiele on April 16th, 2012. In 2012 Wenzel wrote FOR EVER AND EVER. AND FOREVER.
