A new fly system for Gorki

The oldest parts date back to the year 1974: The fly system of the Gorki’s overhead machinery is something like a lovingly maintained “young-timer” from the GDR that's still running smoothly mainly because of the Gorki’s technical crew’s professionalism and talent for improvisation. In order for this system to continue to fly in the future, upgrades to the equipment will be carried out beginning in May. This means that many of the Gorki’s repertory plays will have their final performances this season in April, before the stage is closed for renovations. Studio Я, however, is maintaining its flight pattern and will stay open until the end of the season, which will conclude with the Queer Festival in the middle of June.
In the middle of August, the Maxim Gorki Theatre will launch the 2019/2020 season in a new venue in front of the main theatre. The CONTAINEЯ, located on the square of the March Revolution, will have the same size as the Gorki stage and space for an audience of 199 people. In September the Gorki mainstage will also be ready to go with a new, automated fly system.

That's why many of the plays in our repertory are already appearing for the last time this season in March and April.

Yours truly,
Gorki
