Kate Strong

Born in London and trained at the Royal Ballet School. First job as a dancer at the Zurich Ballet. Dancer in the Frankfurt Ballet under William Forsythe from 1983 to 1994. After she had worked with Johann Kresnik at the Volksbühne Berlin, she switched over to Frank Castorf’s ensemble as an actress at the same theatre in 1996. Kate Strong has been a freelance actress since 2002, working with numerous directors, choreographers and composers. For years she has collaborated closely with Karin Henkel on works including Heinrich IV, Volksbühne Berlin (1999), Macbeth, Münchner Kammerspiele (2011) and Die Ratten, Schauspielhaus Köln (2012), as well as Woyzeck (1999), Viel Lärm um Nichts (2010), Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald (2012) and most recently Elektra (2013), all at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. At the Maxim Gorki Theatre she appeared in Ödipus und Antigone by Ersan Mondtag. In the 2020/2021 season she is collaborating with Mondtag again, appearing in his production It's going to get worse.
