Rogers Brubaker is professor of sociology at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) and fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg of Berlin. In a series of pathbreaking works, Brubaker has sought to rethink some of the most controversial concepts of our times: citizenship, religion, ethnicity, nationalism, and gender. His recent books “Grounds for difference” and “Trans: Gender and Race in an Age of Unsettled Identities” take up a provocative constructivist stance toward identity and the contemporary politics of difference. He is currently writing a book on the pan-European and trans-Atlantic populist conjuncture.
