Sebastian Pircher

was born in 1976 in Düsseldorf. At the Ruhr-University in Bochum he studied Film- and Televison Studies, American Studies and Comparative Literature. Since 1999 he has produced diverse works as a video designer at Schauspiel Köln, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Schauspielhaus Bochum, at Deutschen Theater Berlin, am Schauspiel Frankfurt, at Thalia Theater Hamburg, at Theater Basel and Burgtheater Wien. Also he was executive cameraman for Katie Mitchell, amongst others in the production of Wunschkonzert from Franz Xaver Kroetz (Schauspiel Köln, 2008 und Berliner Theatertreffen, 2009) and Wunschloses Unglück (based on Peter Handke) at Burgtheater Wien, 2014. In addition he acted in Die Wellen (based on Virginia Woolf) (director: Katie Mitchell, Schauspiel Köln, 2011). The first release Der Mann, der nicht da war. Das Karl May-Problem at Prinz-Regent-Theater Bochum, in January 2010, was also his first work as a director. The play was created from impulskontrolle, a collective of video artist, from which he was one of the founders. This year, the collective appeared with the production Sturmhöhe (directed by Lily Sykes, Theater Oberhausen). Regulary co-operation with the directors Anna Bergmann and Antú Romero Nunes.
