MURAT DİKENCİ

Murat Dikenci was born in Hannover and studied applied cultural sciences in Lüneburg. After his studies, he moved to Berlin to work as an assistant director and dramaturg on various productions at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße when Shermin Langhoff was artistic director. Since 2007 Dikenci has also worked as an actor on a variety of national and international film and television projects (including Berlin Station, Tatort, Young Sophie Bell) and theatre productions (such as Verrücktes Blut - Maxim Gorki Theatre, Verhaftung in Granada - Schauspiel Köln). Over the 2021-2023 seasons, he was the artistic director of Universen and worked as an arts facilitator at the Schauspiel Hannover. The first production he directed, Sesperado – Revolution of Color, celebrated its premiere at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße in 2016 and was invited to the Theatertreffen der Jugend youth theatre festival in 2017. In 2022 Murat Dikenci directed YAHYA HASSAN at the Schauspiel Hannover and it will also be shown at the Maxim Gorki Theatre from January 2024. DIE GERÄCHTEN, a production which he wrote and directed, is currently being shown at the Schauspiel Dortmund. He began his tenure as the artistic director of STUDIO Я at the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin with the 2023/24 season.
